A Flexible Approach to Hiring: Introducing Project-Based Search

Not every hiring need requires the same approach.

Sometimes you need a search partner to lead the process from start to finish. Other times, your team has the experience to lead the search but could benefit from having an experienced partner step in when time, capacity, or an outside perspective is needed.

At Essence, we believe in meeting organizations where you are. That is why we offer both Executive Search and Project-Based Search, giving you the flexibility to choose the level of support that makes sense for your organization.

Two Approaches. One Goal.

Executive Search is a comprehensive, end-to-end approach. Our team leads the search process, from developing the search strategy and identifying qualified candidates to interviews, reference checks, and final recommendations.

It can be especially valuable for senior, specialized, or hard-to-fill roles, particularly when your team needs additional expertise, a broader candidate reach, or a dedicated partner to manage the search.

Project-Based Search gives your organization the flexibility to access search expertise where you need it most. Your team stays involved in the search, while we provide support and guidance at the stages where our experience can add the most value.

When Project-Based Search Makes Sense

Project-Based Search can be a good fit when:

  • Your team has the expertise to lead the search but limited time or capacity.
  • You need to move quickly and want experienced support to keep the process moving. You do not regularly hire for a particular position and would benefit from an experienced perspective.
  • You want access to search expertise while being mindful of budget.
  • You need help with specific stages of the hiring process rather than the entire search.
  • You simply don’t enjoy recruiting and want to delegate it to the experts.

Our role is to understand what you need, where your team could use support, and how we can best contribute. Whether you need us to lead the search or step in at key stages, we are here to provide the expertise and support that will help you move forward with confidence.

Support That Fits Your Needs

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to hiring.

The right level of support depends on your role, timeline, internal expertise, capacity, and budget.

That is why our first step is always understanding what you need.

Every organization has different needs, resources, and priorities when it comes to hiring. Our approach is to understand those factors first, then work with you to determine where our expertise can have the greatest impact and what level of support makes the most sense for your organization.

Whatever the situation, we are here to help you determine what makes the most sense.

At Essence, we believe a successful search is about more than finding a candidate. It is about understanding your organization, your goals, and what success looks like, then building a process that gets you there.

Planning your next hire? Let’s talk about what right level of support looks like for your organization.
